What are things I should keep an eye out on. And of course I do apply and re-apply sunblock.

no running!!!!
most important thing
make sure if they cant swim well to keep them in the shallow pool or with a flotation device
no diving in water less than:
3 1/2 ft for anyone (even competitive swimmers)
5 feet (unless you are a competitive swimmer)
10 feet (for the more experienced rectriational swimmer)
12 (anyone)
