Pool safety? Any experiance with this topic?
Alright, so I’m a little concerned this summer with safety. It is the first summer having 8 children by the pool. Now they are all walking, which is more of a stress for me. Our backyard is laid out simply by two slider doors leading on to the deck. The deck goes off to a gated area, a decent amount of yard space and an inground pool. Although the deck has a little door you have to pull the latch to, my kids are VERY smart. Outside of the deck we have the majority of the yard, which is about an acre. My concern for the next 3 months in the pool.
My husband has went ahead and installed this new “gate alarm” on the gate and the deck door. I’ve been thinking about also installing a pool alarm. It sits on the side of your pool, and anytime a child or pet enters the pool, it alarms. However, I can bipass alarms by hitting a switch. Should I go ahead and also get this, just in case? Or should the gate alarms be enough?
Yes I know, I’m a worrier with the water.
Of course there are lots of rules for them to follow. They cannot go outside unless mom or dad know, period. If mom or dad isn’t outside, they are not allowed to step 1 foot off the deck. And of course, my favorite, the girls who can’t swim HAVE to wear swimmies if they are playing on the grass by the pool, no matter who’s outside.

i think the gate alarm is a great thing to have and I also think the pool alarm would be nice because you never know what they can and will do.

I’d get the alarm if you’re worried. Accidents happen, and although the chances are extremely low of anything happening, if it calms you it would be best to get the extra alarm. Better safe than sorry, there’s a very small chance of two alarms failing.
We have a pool alarm and a gate alarm.
I’m a worrier too, and it doesn’t put you at complete ease, but it works wonders :-)
Never question safety steps. You can never have too many in place when it comes to your children. I would get the alarm installed on the pool. I have also heard that these work very well if installed properly.
I know what you mean about being a worrier! This is the first summer where my daughter is older & able to run around. We have a pool in our back yard and my husband has already installed an alarm. I think it’s a great idea!(especially if you are worrisome) Better safe then sorry! :)
